Are you familiar with “Google-served ads on screens without publisher-content”? Are you applying for Google AdSense but not yet approved and wondering what you can do to have your blog approved? Then this blog might be able to help you.
I applied 5 times for Google AdSense. With lots of learning, the content was improved and my blog was finally approved. This blog is about tips for getting approved for Google AdSense with my personal experiences, especially for bloggers.
What is Google AdSense?
Google AdSense is a programme that offers to give website publishers a chance to make money online by placing online advertising on their websites.
If you run a website and want to make money from it, you can apply for Google AdSense by joining up for the programme. If your website complies with Google AdSense’s rules, you can then start displaying ads and making money from it.
Must-have basic items for the application
It is good to check if you have the following fundamental components if you have recently started publishing your website and are having trouble getting approval:
Below are not required items but recommended to have:
Where you should pay attention to – Indexed content
Identification of your website’s indexed material is advised before further investigation.
What is indexed content?
When a piece of material is published, we typically believe that it will appear automatically in search results. The crawler finds your content once it has been published, evaluates it, and then chooses whether to include it in their search index. If they register, they become visible in the index of search results. It’s also critical to be aware that not all of your published information will be indexed; this depends on the search engine’s algorithm.
Why indexed content matter?
Indexed content is important since Google places the most emphasis on it when evaluating your website. Google is believed to focus on content that is indexed and ignore stuff that is not because it is not available on the search, as stated in the media below from Google Search Central.

Finding indexed content
There are two ways to examine your website’s indexed content.
1. site:your root domain
2-a. Google Search Console – Check URL individually

- Login to your Search Console
- Enter the URL you want to check at URL inspection
- The result with indexed or not indexed will be displayed
2-b. Google Search Console – List all the indexed pages

- Login to your Search Console
- Click Pages
- Click View data about indexed pages
- All the indexed pages are listed under Examples
- QWhy does my Search Console say indexed for a URL that is not shown on the search results?
- A
Google claims that some content may not appear in search results even though the Search Console indicates that it has been indexed. This is allegedly due in part to user-irrelevant and low-quality content. Don’t send indexing requests incessantly; instead, use this information to spot any potential issues. Read the document at Google Search Central if you want to learn more about how Google Search functions.
Issue 1: Low-value content

It simply indicates you need to re-examine your posted material as they lack value if you receive a message from AdSense citing “low-value content” as the cause for rejection. Even if they may be really important to you, others must also find them to be useful. Focus on reviewing the content that is indexed first, as was already suggested. Next, have a look at the element below to determine what is causing the low-quality content.
Relevance
When you receive a rejection with the explanation that your material is of low value, relevance is the most crucial factor you should examine. Ask yourself first what the purpose of your website is, and then consider whether the information is clear and helpful to visitors.
Category
On your website, how many categories are there?
It is worthwhile to focus your theme and create categories in accordance with it if you have so many categories. This is connected to the preceding relevance discussion. Instead of acting as a one-stop convenience store, become a specialist website. By doing this, you may further refine your content and make your website’s message more clear to both Google and your visitors. The main reason I was getting low-quality content was because I was writing about a variety of subjects for my own blogs rather than blogs for other people. I eliminated unnecessary categories and their posts and concentrated on creating material with a single, learning-related theme.
Number of posts
I applied with more than 20 articles and was rejected, however, I was approved for 13 articles. This indicates that content and quality are more important than quantity. Even if you produce 100 random articles, if they don’t help readers, 10 high-quality articles will triumph.
Number of words
The quality of the content is more important than the quantity. Some people may claim that each article must be at least 1,500 words long or longer, but based on my personal experience, I can categorically deny that this is the case. The truth is that, on average, my rejected applications were 1,500 words long, whereas my approved applications were 980 words long. Focus on the content itself rather than the word count to determine whether you are providing users with useful stuff. With that being stated, it is also crucial to notice if your content has an exceptionally low volume of words, it may be regarded “low-value conten” as Google can take such as a lack of information. You must add extra content to them in these circumstances.
Frequency
Google may give less weight to posting frequency. This is claimed because after a protracted period of inactivity, I started posting again with coherent topics and made the decision to apply for AdSense, which was accepted. The primary idea is that by posting frequently, you increase the likelihood that your material will be indexed and receive more views, which is significant.
It’s crucial to realize that if your information is less relevant but is still indexed, it can be viewed as a mass of low-quality content.
Issue 2: No content
This is another concern that your application can be rejected – “without publisher-content”. Google prohibits the placement of advertisements on blank web pages. If you submitted 10, 20, or even more articles and were rejected because there was no substance, you could feel that you should submit more articles. It might not, however, be the primary cause. Once more, while spotting empty content, pay attention to indexed content.
Possible thin content
You might discover that some of your indexed content is empty when you check it.
Such thin content may, but need not, take the following forms:
How to fix
By now, you should be able to:
- Get the essentials ready for the application
- Determine the indexed content
- Determine any issues or areas for improvement
- Improve the content’s quality (edit and rewrite content)
- Now what do we do?
If you could solve your issue by improving the content itself, you might be good to go; however, if you are still having trouble raising the calibre of your pages and posts or fixing the empty content that Google is indexing, you can do the following steps:
Via Search Console, ask Google to temporarily remove specified indexed URLs from its search results for a period of six months. Once Google does this (typically within 24 hours), you may want to explore the following actions:
- Add “noindex” tag: By including a “noindex” tag, you can ensure that the material won’t show up in search results even after being temporarily removed for six months. This meta tag ensures that the material won’t be permanently indexed until the tag is removed. This tag is quite helpful, especially for thin content that you need to hide from search results but don’t want to eliminate. Why should content be filtered out of search results? It’s because, as was already stated, Google gives the most weight to your website’s indexed content when evaluating it.
- Remove permanently (or protect with password): You removed it from your end because you believed the quality could not be raised and the content was unimportant. Be aware that deletion may impact your website performance before you completely remove information, especially if your website is older and/or receives a lot of traffic. You can use Google Analytics or Search Console to track the performance of each item before deciding whether to delete the content. If you’re unsure, you should consider making the content password-protected rather than deleting it altogether. Making the information password-protected also guarantees that it won’t be indexed even after being temporarily removed.
Remove URLs temporarily from Google search results
In order to remove URLs from Google search results temporarily:
- Go to Search Console
- Select Removals
- Hit NEW REQUEST
- Enter URL – Remove this URL only
- Hit NEXT to complete
- Repeat the process if you have multiple requests for removals
The procedure typically takes 24 hours to complete, and the status is shown under submitted requests. The status will change from “Processing request” to “Temporarily removed” if the request is processed successfully.

Add “noindex” tag
While requested URLs are being temporarily removed from the Google search results, you can add a “noindex” tag to content you wish not to appear on search results beyond 6 months of temporary removal, making temporary index removal permanent. Again, applying this tag just prevents the content not to appear on search results but people can still access the content.
[Method 1] Add through the built-in feature of your WordPress theme
A meta tag can be added using built-in functionality in some themes.
This parameter under SEO is present in many themes. Moreover, the noindex tag feature is frequently found in edit mode at the bottom of each page or post.

[Method 2] Add through WordPress plugin
If your WordPress theme lacks an integrated function for meta tags, the quickest and simplest way is to use one of your trusted plugins. Known plugins are:
Remove permanently or Protect with a password
You can remove stuff permanently if you feel it is irrelevant and you are unable to make it of higher quality. Once more, think before permanently removing the content.
In order to remove content:
- Go to the WordPress dashboard
- Click the targeted content such as Posts
- Hover the title of an item and click Trash (or tick the item and click bulk actions and select move to trash)
- Go to the Trash folder and select Delete Permanently

If you don’t want to permanently delete it but need some time to edit the text while rewriting, you may make it password-protected so that only those with the password can access the content. Search crawlers cannot access it consequently the content will not be indexed as well.
In order to protect content with a password:
- Go to the WordPress dashboard
- Click the targeted content such as Posts
- Hover the title of an item and click Quick Edit
- Enter your choice of password
- Hit Update
- The status of your content will change to Password protected

Summary
If your AdSense application is being rejected because of low-quality or no content, it is crucial to understand what is and is not indexed. Once the problem has been identified, you can investigate it further, work to enhance the content’s quality, or decide whether to remove it from the index if you think it is unimportant.
Receiving a rejection is never pleasant, but it gives publishers a fantastic chance to improve the content and increase its usefulness to users.
