In a recent post, I explained how I successfully switched my domain registrar from Bluehost to Porkbun. In addition to that, I also transferred my web hosting from Bluehost to NameHero. In this blog, I will show you how easily I moved my web hosting from Bluehost to NameHero.
Why NameHero?
There are many reasons why you should consider migrating to NameHero. In contrast to NameHero and Bluehost, some of the highlights are listed below:
NameHero | Bluehost | |
---|---|---|
Plan | Starter Cloud plan | Basic plan |
Monthly price | $2.24 ($8.95 after renewal) | $4.95 ($14.99 after renewal) |
Free and Auto SSL (https) | Yes | 1st year only |
Number of websites that can be hosted | 1 | 1 |
Monthly Bandwidth | Unlimited | Unmetered |
Email Accounts | Unlimited | 5 |
cPanel | Yes | Yes |
Nightly/Weekly Backups | Yes | N/A |
Website Migrations | Free (1 complimentary migration) | Paid service |
Sub Domains | Unlimited | 25 |
What I looked for in my new web hosting company were:
- High-speed and reliable web hosting
- Free and auto SSL
- Free email accounts
- Reasonable monthly price
- An easy website migration
Basically, NameHero satisfied all of my above wishlists. I used Bluehost to host this blog when I first started, and I was satisfied with it due to its simple yet user-friendly platform. However, after using it for three years (I had a three-year subscription), I realized that my website was slow loading and the monthly fee would be high after renewal. I then made the decision to search for an alternative and discovered NameHero. The low price of NameHero and its fast load time, which also includes one free complementary website migration, were something I truly liked. As I only have one website to host and no future plan of hosting other websites, I decided to go ahead and migrate to NameHero with the Starter Cloud plan from Bluehost before the renewal kicks in.

In my case, my migration was successfully completed within 1 hour, and then accessed further for a quality check that was completed by the following day. The NameHero migration team swiftly responded to my inquiries and followed up with me on every update they had via email.
Update nameservers on your domain registrar
One thing you may need to do once website migration is completed is to update your authoritative nameservers on your domain registrar account, if that differs from NameHero.
As my domain is registered with Porkbun which is different from NameHero, nameservers on my Porkbun account needed to be updated to the ones that are specified by NameHero. That was basically the only thing I did on my own and the rest was handled by the NameHero team.
Final thought
I was able to easily access my WordPress account from the WordPress Login page as I typically do, and all the cPanel info including emails was successfully transferred to NameHero. The service has shown to be incredibly dependable thus far, and my website now loads considerably more quickly than it did while I was using Bluehost. It goes without saying that I am quite pleased with the service they offer and do not regret switching hosting providers.
